The Tennessee Titans drafted David Long, the former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in the 6th Round with the 188th overall selection.
Long is the latest linebacker the Mountaineers has sent to the NFL. He has a discernable ability to get to ball carriers either in front of or behind the line of scrimmage. He’s quick to recognize and dissect plays to get downhill in the right position to make the play. A quarter of his solo tackles came from behind the line. He’s seen as a great blitzer with a nose for the quarterback once he breaks through.
He will likely be a backup for the Titan’s at first, but could turn into a starter down the road.
